Charmain is the principal at Cottontails Nursery School in Northcliff

I, Charmain, am the principal at Cottontails Nursery School in Northcliff and have been at Cottontails Nursery School for 25 years and it has become my home. Every day I am grateful for various aspects of this school that make it such a special day care.

Here your child is secure

Cottontails takes safety and security very seriously. We work hand in hand with our security company and have regular visits from guards to ensure the safety of the children at all times.

Here your child is well-assisted

In our child nursery, kids have a wide range of activities and support available to them. We have numerous murals each day, as well as occupational therapy and speech therapy. We also have a psychologist on the premises. This helps us ensure that children who need support get it so they can reach their full potential.

Here your child learns while having fun

My favourite part of every year is our day care’s end-of-year concert. We spend months practicing for this special culminating event where each class is able to show off the songs and poems they have learned throughout the year on stage. I am always so proud to watch my class performing for their parents.

I love being part of the Cottontails family. Although it is sad to say goodbye at the end of each year to our Grade R’s, I love to see our children flourish as they move on with their lives and head on out to bigger things.

Oftentimes though, past pupils return to pay us a visit and invite us to their special events, and that tells me hey, our day care does stay with our pupils even after they’ve left.

Here is a message from one of our past pupils:

Hi, it’s Ashleigh Salmon. I along with my two sisters attended Cottontails. My sister Sarah, now runs her own beauty salon and my little sister Emma is studying hard and in her second year at the University of Johannesburg. I started at Cottontails Nursery School in 1987 and left at the end of 1991 to attend De la Salle Holy Cross College. After school I attended The University of Johannesburg where I did a BCom in Accounting, also obtained BCOM honours in accounting specialising in SA Tax. I then completed my HDip in tax law. I am now working at SAB Miller as a Tax Analysist in their International tax department. I have fond memories of our time at Cottontails Nursery School.
